Hayes Handpiece Co. offers instrument maintenance training

dentalproductsreport.com , August 7, 2010

CARLSBAD, CA   Hayes Handpiece Company announces that it now offers instrument maintenance training in cities across the country. Hayes has 85 locations and most of these locations are offering this free instrument processing service to dentists and oral surgeons in a 30 minute lunch and learn format. One free CE credit is also available to maintenance demo attendees through a partnership with Dentrek.

The Hayes instrument processing demo is designed to take the guesswork out of maintaining hygiene and surgical instruments-everything from scalers and explorers to forceps and scissors. Hayes representatives review maintenance steps recommended by top instrument manufacturers such as proper ultrasonic cleaning, lubrication, and sterilization procedures, as well as CDC guidelines pertaining to instrument infection control. In addition, Hayes representatives evaluate which instruments need to be sharpened or replaced.

“We have made instrument maintenance training a priority because as a repair company, we can clearly see how offices that perform proper maintenance are protecting their investment and getting more life out of their instruments,” explains Joe Hayes, CEO of Hayes Handpiece Company. “Those who do not have a good maintenance protocol in place have instruments that wear out, corrode, or have to be replaced prematurely.”

Hayes has partnered with Miltex Instruments to be able to offer our customers premium quality instruments when replacement is necessary.

To schedule instrument maintenance training, please contact your local Hayes handpiece office.

Christopher Ufnal has joined Hayes Handpiece Company as director of business development. Formerly the manager of the surgical, endo and restorative product categories at Hu-Friedy Manufacturing, Ufnal earned a B.S. in marketing from Arizona State University and an MBA in finance from Grand Canyon University.

As director of business development, Ufnal will be responsible for expanding the Hayes product offering, as well as educating and training the corporate and franchisees’ sales teams. Additionally, Ufnal—who operates from the Hayes office in Chicago—will provide input into the corporate marketing strategy.

“We are very fortunate to have Christopher Ufnal as the newest member of the growing Hayes team,” said Joe Hayes, CEO of Hayes Handpiece Company. “Chris has great experience to share with our organization, and he will hit the ground running to educate our expanding sales team on how they can better serve dentists and surgeons. His background will help us provide our customers with new technology that will serve to round out our product offering.”

With Ufnal’s addition to the company, Hayes’ Scott Smola will be promoted from director of business development to chief operating officer. Smola, also a former Hu-Friedy manager, has been with Hayes since 2009.
